Sarawak Business Events Set To Boom
Kuching, Malaysia, 26 May 2015 – Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB) recently launched a new programme entitled Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak), aimed at developing the business events sector in the State of Sarawak, Malaysia. BESarawak, launched by YB Dato’ Sri Dr. Muhammad Leo Michael Toyad Abdullah, Chairman of Sarawak Convention Bureau, focuses on the opportunities that exist in the business events sector in Sarawak by taking advantage of the regional growth areas that occur outside the State.
From its three-component programme, BESarawak rewards the business events sector with a strategic partnership that offers multiple benefits: Communicating, Educating and Awarding. Working alongside its key partners within associations, corporations, government agencies, industry partners and the media, BESarawak intends to leverage on international and national business events industry partners to amplify Sarawak’s unique offerings to a global and diverse audience.
The Chairman said: “BESarawak offers its partners an advanced communications campaign that includes stakeholder engagement, media relations, social media and an exclusive “Business Events Sarawak” magazine, underpinned by SCB’s unrivalled understanding of the Sarawak business landscape. In order to ensure sustainable and continued business in the State and beyond, BESarawak will develop its partners’ global-industry best practices through bespoke and highly targeted seminars, ensuring they are equipped to meet the challenges of what is an unpredictable global business environment.’’
“With BESarawak, I am confident that Sarawak’s ICCA ranking as a business events destination will continue to rise from its current position at 101st in the world,” he added.
Mr. Mike Cannon, Managing Director of Sarawak Convention Bureau echoed the Chairman’s comments: “The beauty about BESarawak and its three-component programme is that it helps the business events sector here prepare for any meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions now and in the future. This is especially pertinent as Sarawak has the honour of hosting the prestigious 55th ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) Congress next year.”
As part of its value proposition, BESarawak offers winning partners of its Anak Sarawak Award (an award to acknowledge the contribution of convention hosts to the growth of Sarawak’s business events sector) complementary marketing, training and international development support worth between RM10,000 and RM20,000. This bonus gives the winning partners a competitive advantage and enables them to take their business to new heights. The Anak Sarawak Award recognises excellence and professionalism in business practices, encouraging sector professionals to achieve their business and personal goals.
BESarawak aims to educate and mentor its partners and suppliers on the global-industry best-practices needed in order to attract business events from around the world.
